The wedding venue is making updates and will reopen in May
With its proximity to Columbus and its idyllic college town setting, Granville is a beautiful spot for area brides to host their nuptials. The Granville Inn, with its nearly 40 guest rooms and event spaces, is a go-to for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Currently, the Granville Inn is undergoing renovations-it was purchased by nearby Denison University in 2013 and has been closed since last fall for updates.
"We're updating guest rooms and meeting technology," says Linda Turk, director of sales at Granville Inn. "We're raising the roof on the third floor and adding some additional guest rooms. We had a carriage house that was used for storage, and that will be used for additional event space."
The carriage house can seat around 60 people, making it a prime spot for smaller celebrations. Also available is the Denison Ballroom, which seats up to 160 guests with a dance floor. The inn's front lawn and courtyard serve as spots for ceremonies.
"We have a wedding package in place that culminates the experience," Turk explains. "Valet parking for guests the day of the wedding, an overnight room for the bride and groom and a selection of either a buffet or a plated meal. Plus four hours of bar service."
Renovations are expected to be complete at the beginning of May, and although 20 weddings are already booked for 2015, there are still openings available.
"We [the Granville Inn] are 91 years old this summer," Turk says. "With the renovation, we are adding the upscale touches that people want for their special day. Granville is a quaint town-a very welcoming town-and that's part of the ambiance as well."
