Meet Nuha Gebremedhin
Hometown: Asmara, Eritrea
Background: I attended at the Illinois Art Institute of Chicago and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Fashion Design
Approach to fashion: Fashions may go out of style, but style never goes out of fashion. Developing a style is a universal principle that is important-color that complements your skin tone, having well fitted garments and layering up, etc. By following these elements you'll never go out of style. Certain fashion trends may go out of style, but a lot of fashion/style aspects will never be obsolete.
Style is … having creativity and confidence in choosing different kinds of clothing and accessories from various areas. It's about each person creating their own unique identity and how they carry themselves and what they put on.
Most looking forward to … Seeing my designs on the runway for the first time.
My Fashion Week Columbus collection in five words or less: My philosophy as a designer is to create/design clothes that is timeless, elegant and ethnic-inspired.
The celebrity I'd most like to dress: Angelina Jolie
The Columbusite I'd most like to dress: Yolanda Harris
The worst fashion faux pas: When it comes to style, you can get away with almost anything. After all, who's to say you can't wear whatever you want? But there are few fashion faux pas I think every girl should try to avoid. Leaving your house with a wrinkly blouse or even wearing pajamas, and wearing clothes two sizes smaller.
I never leave home without … my make up, cell phone and wallet.
My favorite local boutique: Kifle Shoe Boutique
My hope for Columbus fashion: To be recognized as a designer
