Who knows better how to successfully plan (and celebrate) a Columbus wedding than recent Columbus brides? We asked three of this issue's beautiful brides for advice and what they wish they had done differently.

Married Mike Cobetto on July 5, 2013, at New Albany Country Club

What was one priceless piece of wedding-day advice?

In the midst of being semi-stressed during our wedding week, my now husband told me, "Our wedding day isn't going to define our marriage."

What do you wish you'd known before you embarked on your wedding-planning journey?

It is important to have a budget and stick to it … the little things add up!

What, if anything, do you wish you'd done differently?

I would have had both the ceremony and reception outdoors.I would have had the ceremony on the grass and the reception in a tent.

Let's talk dress shopping.

Try on all colors, styles, cuts and shapes- anything and everything! There is no limit to how many you are allowed to try on.It's often said you go back to that first dress you tried on, and it's true. I did!

If you could do it all over, you'd …

I really can't think of anything that I would do differently; the venue was great, the food was great, our vendors were great, all the small things did come together in the end. Your day is going to be amazing and perfect in its own way.

Jen Schubert

Married Mark Schubert on Nov. 1, 2013, at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

What was one priceless piece of wedding-day advice?

On our wedding day I received great advice from a good friend. She told me to take five minutes to myself to reflect on everything I had done to plan for this wedding and to embrace it. During those five minutes, I thought a lot about my groom patiently waiting for me, and about how happy he has made me.

What do you wish you'd known before you embarked on your wedding-planning journey?

I wish I had known that there really is no such thing as a budget! I tried so hard to stay under my proposed budget so we could save some money for our honeymoon and our future. That all went out the door quickly, because there are so many little things that add up so fast.

What, if anything, do you wish you'd done differently?

Looking back, the only thing I would have done differently would have been to hire a wedding planner to do all the leg work. I knew what I wanted and had a vision of what our wedding day would look like. And since we planned our wedding in three months, it would have been nice to have someone take my vision and use his or her resources to do all the running around for me.

Let's talk dress shopping.

Dress shopping was so much fun and so exhausting and overwhelming at the same time. My advice for brides is to try on different styles. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted. Our last stop was Henri's Cloud Nine at Polaris, and I tried on dresses in different styles and finally found the one … and it was nothing like anything I tried on all day.

If you could do it all over, you'd …

I would hire a wedding planner and do it all the exact same way.

Lynsey Dinovo

Married Matthew Dinovo on Sept. 13, 2013, at The Ohio Statehouse

What is one priceless piece of wedding-day advice?

Although the little details make for a great wedding, always remember the only thing that really matters is you and your soon-to-be spouse.

What do you wish you'd known before you embarked on your wedding-planning journey?

I had a lot of great advice leading up to the day. I wish I had a better focus on what I wanted before planning-the dress, the hair, decorations.I started planning and doing a bit too much at first, and it was a bit overwhelming.I needed to take things one at a time to get focused and get them done.

What, if anything, do you wish you'd done differently?

I plan a lot of events for work and had great help from my venues,so we decided not to have a wedding planner on site during the day of the event. If I could do it again, I would have a wedding planner available during the ceremony and pictures.

Let's talk dress shopping.

I'mnot very skinny, so many dresses didn't fit.I put a lot of faith in my consultant at Wendy's.She listened to my feedback with each dress I put on and was the one who actually found "the one." She made me feel beautiful and confident in my choice.

If you could do it all over, you'd …

Everyone tells you that the day goes by very fast-and about how difficult it is to spend time with everyone. If I could do it all over again, I would try harder to spend time with my guests.
