Your dream wedding is a "rustic" affair-join the wedding-planning ranks. But first heed our tips for making sure your outdoor hitching goes off without a hitch.
The honest truth: This rustic vibe can come with a higher price tag and complicated logistics. Wedding planner Emilie Duncan points out barns and other semi-outdoor locations often don't have a built-in infrastructure. "That could mean no water, no electricity, no bathrooms and, sometimes, no level ground," she says. "You don't have all the things you take for granted at a traditional venue."
Plan well, and you can still pull off a beautiful rustic wedding. "When you look at locations, you need to see what they include," says Carly Ziemer, wedding specialist at Two Caterers. "We set up a site inspection with brides to check out the area and how we're going to bring things in and set up." Be sure to coordinate closely with your caterer and other vendors to avoid unpleasant surprises. And, if you love the aesthetic but don't want the extra hassle, Columbus has many venues with a rustic vibe plus the amenities of a more traditional space. We've rounded up a few.
