Openings, closings and other restaurant fodder
The Bexley Giant Eagle Market District Express, the first 2-story grocery in the company's portfolio, opened last week at 2250 E. Main Street. The new 30,000 square-foot store features the grocery chain's second "market-to-table" restaurant, Table by Market District. The gastropub-style restaurant is designed to provide "a bit of a wow factor when you come upstairs," says food and beverage director Rick Hopkins, and sources ingredients from the store itself. The 15-seat bar offers 18 beers on tap and customers can pop a cork on one of the store's more than 1,200 bottles of wine for a $10 fee. Maybe most impressive is the restaurant's second-story covered patio that overlooks Main Street and Capital University.
