Worthington Farmers Market

Saturdays through October

Walk with a Doc

At 8:30 a.m. every other Saturday, a Mount Carmel Health physician will lead an hour-long walk at a local park. The doctor will give a presentation on various health topics beforehand. July 4 (first Saturday of every month)

Plan to walk the length of the Short North strip and back during this monthly entertainment mainstay. Try going earlier in the afternoon to get in your steps before the sidewalks get packed, and grab a bite al fresco afterward. shortnorth.org

The Ohio State Fair

July 29 to Aug. 9

Come in through the south entrance on 11th Avenue and first take a spin through the Natural Resources Park on your right. The 8-acre area offers an aviary and walk-through butterfly garden, and a kayak pond will give the more daring a bonus upper-body workout. Then zigzag your way through all the arts and crafts barns, and walk between the barns to get to the north entrance (and avoid the neon sign food temptresses). ohiostatefair.com
