After five years searching for a place to open his dream music venue and restaurant, chef Justin Hemminger's lawyer played matchmaker by suggesting the former Swiss Chalet Party House at CD102.5, and the Big Room Bar was born.

After five years searching for a place to open his dream music venue and restaurant, chef Justin Hemminger's lawyer played matchmaker by suggesting the former Swiss Chalet Party House at CD102.5, and the Big Room Bar was born. The bar food and intimate live music spot in the Brewery District is known for bratwurst dips and pinot noir gravy-topped pot roast from this veteran chef (Betty's, Surly Girl, Chintz Room). When he's off the clock, Hemminger typically keeps it just as casual.bigroombar.com

Dive Bar:The Tree Bar. "The old Andyman's Treehouse was the first bar where I really felt welcome after I moved to Columbus in 2004. (Owners) Roni and Ryan have done such a great job sustaining the vibe that made that place great for so long."

Upscale Bar:Barrel on High. "I'll admit, I don't do upscale bars or cocktails very often, but I appreciate a legit whiskey list."

Splurge Meal:The Top Steak House. "I love everything about this place. The food, the piano, the dank. If I ever won the lottery or invented something more culturally important than bratwurst dip, I would eat there all the time."

Takeout:Pho Asian Noodle House. "It can be hit-and-miss, but I love the Sichuan chow fun, dan dan noodles and pho dac biet when the kitchen is on its game."

All-Time Favorite Meal:Adriatico's Pizza. "I can't live without a deep dish supremo in my life every other week or so."
