Besides a catchy little ditty about wanting to be a hot dog, Oscar Mayer's greatest pop-cultural legacy has been the Wienermobile, a kitschy piece of Americana that's celebrating its 75th birthday this year.
To celebrate its brilliant advertising gimmick, Oscar Mayer unveiled a special food truck version of the Wienermobile that will be traveling the country this summer passing out free hot dogs. The truck rolls into Columbus Wednesday, and at its helm will be our city's own Hot Dog Queen, Liz Lessner. She'll be topping the beef franks with Dirty Frank's-style toppings before handing them out to the adoring crowds. And you can bet there will be crowds.
The Wienermobile will be parked at Sensenbrenner Park, at the corner of High Street and Nationwide Boulevard, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. Don't miss it.
