This month marks the first installment of the Monthly Supper Club at Gallerie Bar & Bistro. On the second Thursday of every month through December, executive chef Bill Glover will prepare themed dinners that go beyond "typical wine dinners, which have gotten a little tired," he says. And despite the series' name, you don't need to be any kind of member; you just need to call ahead to make reservations.

"Barbeque and Bourbon" is the theme of the inaugural July 10 dinner. Courses will include smoked brisket, braised pork cheek and dry-rubbed quail. A bourbon-leaning beverage will be served with each course, starting with a cocktail using Watershed Distillery's Bourbon Barrel Gin and ending with a glass of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Tickets are $75 per person.

Many of the dinners will be collaborative, like on Aug. 14 when chefs Marcus Meacham of Kraft House No. 5 and Seth Lassak of Wolf's Ridge Brewing join Glover to prepare a multi-course dinner with local beer pairings.

The series closes Dec. 11 with the second-annual James Beard Foundation Celebrity Chef Tour dinner. Like last year, the dinner will feature several prominent chefs from the Midwest, with proceeds benefitting the James Beard Foundation. So far, Jonathon Sawyer of Cleveland's The Greenhouse Tavern, Kevin Sousa of Pittsburgh's Salt of the Earth and Garrett Lipar of Detroit's Torino have been confirmed for the event.
