This month marks the 30th year of business for German Village staple Katzinger's Delicatessen. It's been a big year for owner Diane Warren, who started dishing her signature Reubens and pickles at a second location, Katzinger's Little Delicatessen in the North Market, this spring. And, for this occasion, she's prepared several contests that will serve diners as well as the greater good.
Throughout the end of the month, Katzinger's is looking for submissions for "My Deli Memories." Participating is simple: Put your favorite Katzinger's memories into writing, and send them via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via snail mail to 475 S. Third St. Every Wednesday starting Oct. 8, one memory will be drawn from the pile, and the winner will get a $100 gift card, good at either deli location. All submitted memories-or at least as many as will fit-will adorn the deli walls this month.
Raffle tickets will also be sold at the delis for $1 apiece or $5 for 8 tickets. A drawing will be held very Wednesday, also starting next week, and the winner will snag-you guessed it-a $100 gift card. And whether you're the lucky draw or not, Warren promises every penny from ticket sales will benefit Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Neighborhood Services and House of Hope.
Warren is also teasing surprise off-menu fare throughout the month, but she's not telling us what it will be. You'll just have to swing by the deli and find out yourself.
