Hilton Columbus Downtown announced this week that preliminary designs for its two-story, to-be-named restaurant have been approved. The new restaurant, part of the Hilton Columbus Downtown’s expansion, will feature a live wood-burning grill as the main focal point of the street-level restaurant. “Just as the kitchen is the heart of any home, a central wood-fired oven and grill is the soul of our restaurant,” executive chef Bill Glover said in the announcement, adding that the oven and grill will “radiate a comforting fireside ambiance while producing much of the menu’s feature dishes and ingredients.” The hotel’s expansion is scheduled to open in January 2022.

Cleveland-based brewery Saucy Brew Works announced this week that it’s opening a brewpub this summer in the former home to Caffe Apropos in Harrison West, 443 W. Third Ave.

The grand opening for Condado Tacos′ sixth Columbus-area location takes place Thursday, March 7, at 102 N. High St. Dublin. The new Bridge Park West location is Condado’s 11th in the Midwest. The restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; the kitchen closes at 1 a.m.

Another beloved Columbus eatery is expanding into the Cleveland area. Brassica’s first location outside Columbus will open Friday, April 12, in Shaker Heights at Van Aken District’s Market Hall. Last week, Hot Chicken Takeover announced plans to open its first location outside of Central Ohio in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake.


International Women’s Day takes place Friday, March 8. To celebrate, several local breweries have collaborated on new brews with plans to hold tapping events and benefits this weekend. Maybe the biggest collaboration took place at Combustion Brewery, where women from more than 10 Central Ohio breweries recently met to brew Stand Strong Double IPA using the 2019 Pink Boots hop blend. Combustion, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, Ill Mannered Brewing Co. and several other local outfits are holding events this weekend. Every Saturday this month, Mission Coffee Co. is offering specialty espresso drinks and a brew bar inside Little Eater’s Clintonville location at 4215 N. High St. The pop-up takes place 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
