Founder Chris Crader announces Harvest's return to the German Village area just six months after its flagship restaurant closed.

Harvest Pizzeria, known for its fire-kissed pizzas and local ingredients, is set to take over 940 S. Front St. in the Brewery District, a 4,500-square-foot space most recently occupied Westies Gastropub. 

The original Harvest in German Village (495 S. Fourth St.) closed in April after eight years in business. In a press release, Grow Restaurants CEO and founder Chris Crader said the public outcry in the wake of the closure motivated Harvest’s return to the area. 

“Our first home was in German Village, and that will always be emotionally ingrained in us,” said Crader in the announcement. “With the overwhelming public response we received as the former German Village restaurant was closing, we knew it was not only our pleasure, but also our duty, to return.” 

Details for the restaurant are still being worked out, says Grow Restaurants director of marketing Danny Cathcart, but customers can expect a menu more in line with Harvest Bar + Kitchen in Clintonville—including pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, etc.—than the original concept in German Village, which focused largely on its wood-fired pies. Look for it to open this winter.

Grow Restaurants’ holdings include four other Harvest locations in Clintonville, Dublin, Bexley and Cincinnati, as well as The Sycamore and Cosecha Cocina.

The original Harvest space in German Village is set to be filled by Bistrolino, a Lebanese/Italian restaurant venture. It’s expected to open later this year.
