Server Swssett Smidi calls the folks at the Brewery District’s Arepazo Tapas Bar Grille family. The world traveler is learning about the reclamation of ancestral food in Latin America, with the hopes of opening a Nicaraguan café. Special occasion: The Pearl. “I love oysters, and they make the best Moscow mules. The shellfish tower is worth the price.”
Carryout: Pho Asian Noodle House & Grill. “I love the beef spicy pho noodle soup. It’s ridiculously cheap for the amount you’re given. It’s quick, it’s simple and delicious.”
Bar: Restaurant Silla. “I absolutely love sake and the dolsot bibimbap. I order their premium sake, Otokoyama, along with Kirin Japanese beer. It’s a hole-in-the-wall with great sake, great service and awesome Korean and Japanese cuisine.”
Ecuadorian: Los Galapagos. “I get the baked chicken empanadas and the coconut sauce-marinated shrimp meal. Their homemade spiced coconut and aioli sauce comes with everything.”
Guilty pleasure: “My new favorite late night crave spot is CRMD, an ice cream shop right across from my studio [apartment]. I love their … crunchy puffle [cone]. It’s a whole new level of ice cream experience.”
