Today we're kicking off another new series here on Bustled! Photog Faves will help you, dear reader, get to know some of Central Ohio's top wedding photographers by introducing you to their favorite photos from a given category.

This edition looks at a key wedding-day moment (and the subject of a story in our current issue) that is often heavily debated: the first look.

When Benjamin Derkin of Derk's Works Photography meets with clients who aren't sure about whether they want to do a first look, he likes to share his own experience.

"Almost seven years ago, my wife and I got married, and I was the traditionalist," he says. "I was like, 'No, I really think I want to wait and have that moment right on the aisle.' "

But as often happens, plans changed. Derkin and his wife, Jennifer, ended up doing a first look after all.

"For me, just going through that experience-I had the first glance and then I had the aisle-and to me they were two totally separate, beautiful moments, in which I remember different aspects of the woman that I married," Derkin says. "To me, the moment on the aisle was just as much about what was happening and how it was happening, and the gravitas of the moment. And the way Jennifer's beauty struck me in that moment, with the emotionalism surrounding it, was independently beautiful. Whereas the first glance moment was intimate and kind and sweet and had a cozy nature to it that you will never get on the aisle of your ceremony."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

Katie Fowler and Asa Schultz's first look took place at the stunning Red Rocks in Littleton, Colorado, on Jan. 16, 2016.
