Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.

Whitney and Pete Witmann first met as freshmen at Miami University through mutual friends. Despite hanging out on occasion, the two fell out of touch after college. It wasn't until January 2013-10 years after they'd first met-that the two reconnected. Pete confessed that he'd had a crush on Whitney since their freshman year and asked her to dinner.

"I was hesitant before our first date, since it seemed funny to go out with someone I had known for 10 years," says Whitney. "My nerves were put to rest right away when Pete and I had a wonderful evening and continued to talk and hang out for weeks as if no time had gone by."

After nearly two years of dating, Pete told Whitney that he needed her to accompany him to a client dinner at Hyde Park Steakhouse. It was a beautiful evening, Whitney says, so they decided to walk to the restaurant via Goodale Park. Pete led Whitney into the gazebo, which raised suspicion for Whitney about whether he was about to pop the question.

"I quickly talked myself out of it though, because I knew he would never propose to me before a client dinner," Whitney says. "Before I knew it, he was down on one knee proposing with the ring that his grandfather proposed to his grandmother with 68 years ago, and his father proposed to his mother with 31 years ago. Of course, I said yes!"

And that client dinner? It was all a ruse. The new fiancés celebrated at Hyde Park with dinner and champagne before heading to Novak's Tavern, where Pete had arranged for all of their family and friends to surprise Whitney and celebrate the couple.

Less than a year later, the two celebrated their marriage in a black-tie event at the elegant Ohio Statehouse.
