Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Named for way they seem to reposition themselves to face the sun, sunflowers have come to signify adoration and loyalty—two attributes newlyweds hope for in their marriage. It’s only fitting that Molly and Donald “Rudy” Youell turned the bloom into the theme of their wedding. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were full of sunflowers, and as a party favor, each guest left the wedding with sunflower seeds.
Even though they both grew up in Columbus and had mutual friends, Molly and Rudy didn’t meet until they traveled cross-country to attend Arizona State University. Their friendship continued until it finally blossomed into romance going into their senior year. Following graduation, they both moved back to Ohio to be closer to their families, Molly says.
