Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Molly and Daniel van Hoogstraten made sure they had all the wedding essentials covered: flowers coordinating with the wedding colors, a light-strung tent for dancing and even a touching moment where the bride’s brother sang during the ceremony. But when it comes to other traditions, the van Hoogstratens wanted to make their own mark.
Instead of riding in a stretch limo, the wedding party arrived at the Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club via a trolley. The home-style dinner of fried chicken or short ribs—both paired with mashed potatoes—was served poolside, not in an expansive dining room. And for dessert, the pair opted for individual ice cream sandwiches instead of a multitier cake. Guests had a selection of Savannah Buttermint and Salty Caramel sandwiches from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, as well as black raspberry chip and mint chocolate chip sandwiches from Graeter’s Ice Cream.
To top off the evening, the couple made sure to include the third member of their new family—their dog, Cricket—by naming the night’s signature cocktail after their furry friend.
