Want a babysitter? (Don't call me.)
As a single, 32-year-old woman, I thank you in advance for finding another babysitter on New Year's Eve.
Don't get me wrong, I adore children, and because of that, if you ask me to babysit so you can go out, I am afraid I would say yes.
Regardless, I'm only one woman, and the babysitting needs of the city extend beyond my ability to help. Luckily, there are some other convenient childcare options in Columbus to provide a night of freedom so you can celebrate the start of 2019.
Sitters Unlimited was started 20 years ago by a local mother. Customers pay a one-time $50 fee, which provides you a lifetime membership to use this service, which also includes pet sitting, nanny placement and household assistance. The service costs $10 per hour for one child and increases $1 for every additional child. You will also pay an extra $1 an hour per child for the holiday rate on New Year's Eve.
Sitting Made Simple offers after-school and summer care, as well as availability for special events, such as New Year's Eve. There is an annual $50 family membership fee to join. In addition, you can expect to pay scheduling fees as well as sitters' fees, ranging from $11 to $14 per hour.
It seems we can say this for just about anything these days, but if you are looking for a sitter, there is an app for that. Juggle was created by four Columbus mothers who did not trust other online sites offering child care, so they took matters into their own hands. The app creates a network tied to users' social media accounts, so you can use sitters that your acquaintances have already hired. Rates vary between $12 and $18 per hour. Juggle charges a $3.99 booking fee per job, or you can pay $10 per month for unlimited bookings. The app is available in several other states, too.
