Franklinton's newest mixed-use community will host weddings and more.

Gravity, the much-discussed complex from Kaufman Development, opens this month. Among its apartments, office spaces, restaurants and retail will be seven indoor and outdoor areas able to accommodate groups of 10 to 1,000.

The signature space, called Center at Gravity, can accommodate up to 175 guests and includes a flexible seating area, A/V and projection, a full bar and a retractable wall that opens to the patio. There’s also a beautiful outdoor lawn, complete with a projection wall; a food truck alley for those late-night bites (or an alternative to traditional reception dinner catering); a private rooftop with a stunning view of the Downtown skyline, and more. Gravity’s event spaces will be managed by 1877 Events, a management spinoff of Vue Columbus.

“The space at Gravity speaks for itself,” says Carl Seiley, cofounder of 1877 Events. “Several clients have interrupted me during tours to say, ‘We can cancel our other tours; we have to host our event here.’ ”

Gravity’s ethos-driven mission is to help people live intentional lives pursuing purpose and engagement that positively affect the world. It’ll achieve that, in part, by working with such tenants as Pelotonia, The Roosevelt Coffeehouse and more. The building features more than 14,000 square feet of murals, 90 percent of which were created by local artists.
