Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Katelyn and Bora Tucture are proof that low-key details can have a high impact. From Bora’s proposal to their big day just six months later, their engagement and wedding was both chill and super-sweet.
To propose, Bora started with dinner plans.
“We ended up having some time to kill prior to the dinner, so he suggested we go to Griggs Reservoir,” Katelyn says. “It was unusually nice out for November, and we love to go there and take walks, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary.” That is, until, they parked in what Katelyn calls their favorite spot. Waiting for them was a blanket with roses and a photo album filled with sweet sayings inside. “After we went through the book together, he proposed,” she recalls. “It was very private, which is exactly what I always wanted.”
That sense of intimacy carried through to the wedding, which was attended by 90 of the couple’s closest family and friends.
For Katelyn, the most memorable aspect of the day was seeing Bora standing at the end of the aisle. He had broken his ankle two months earlier and had just been cleared to start weight-bearing.
“Seeing him standing up there—still in a boot!—without crutches was just amazing,” she says. “He had not been able to do anything in the months prior without them, so for him to do our first dance and walk into the reception with me with little assistance was amazing.”
