Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Lauren and Brett McPherson’s wedding was full to the brim with personal flair. The ceremony featured a pianist and cellist playing music from the couple’s favorite movies, their darling German Shepherd acted as ring bearer and Lauren’s horse was even able to make it for cocktail hour.
What’s more, the event was highlighted by miraculous fixes to some seriously unexpected issues.
When Lauren was getting ready on the day of her wedding, her dress turned out to be too big; a major issue for a strapless gown. Luckily, their venue coordinator, April Smith, had prior experience at a bridal boutique; she altered the gown, sewing Lauren into it just an hour before the ceremony.
“She was a godsend!” Lauren says.
Then at cocktail hour, Lauren’s beloved horse, Honor, arrived for formal pictures. Disaster struck yet again, when the horse got locked inside the trailer—with the keys still at the barn . This was not the kind of hitch they were planning for when bringing their equine companion along.
When they were unable to get the door open, Lauren’s aunt came to the rescue with her wedding present for the couple: a Dremel tool that was able to crack open the lock.
Here’s hoping it will be a smooth ride for the newlyweds from here on out!
