Real newlyweds give wedding planning tips based on their experience.
The Francis’ wedding took place on Oct. 21, 2017, at Noah’s Event Venue.
If you could do anything about your wedding differently, what would you change and why?
We wish that we would have taken more time to sit and take in all the beauty and joy of our day! Everything moved so fast that by the time that we realized [we should do this], the night was over.
What are you happy you spent money on?
We were so glad to invest in a great photographer and the month-of coordinator. The best money we’ve have ever spent!
What do you think you could have done without?
We had so many food options for our guests. Looking back, we could have probably limited the amount of options, because the food was that good!
What was your biggest surprise when planning your wedding?
How many decisions that had to be made in such a short period of time. Our heads were spinning!
Did you experience any wedding-day snafus?
Nothing really went too wrong. Our altar backdrop wasn’t staying up, but thankfully, our [family] is pretty crafty so [they were] able make it work for us.
Did you and your fiancé get into any silly arguments?
Most likely we did, but we really did our best to try to keep our focus on the special day.
Any advice about attire?
Be true to your sense of style and not what you think a bride or groom should look like. Also, stay aware of your budget. Beautiful dresses and handsome tuxedos exist in all price points.
Do you have any general advice for couples currently planning their weddings?
Assemble the right team to execute your vision. Having the right compilation of vendors can take an unforgettable day to whole new level. Also, make room in your budget for a month-of coordinator. That is an essential piece to a truly magical day.
Do you have any general marriage advice, as a newlywed?
Be each other’s best teammate. The wedding involves so many people and so many moving parts, but it starts with the two of you. Secure your vision and let that guide both of you!
