Real newlyweds give wedding planning tips based on their experience.

The Babberts’ wedding took place on Sept. 22, 2018, at Grove City United Methodist Church.

If you could do anything about your wedding differently, what would you change and why?

Michelle: Probably have more time for pictures between ceremony and reception. We tried to make it convenient for guests and made most of our time, but I wish we’d had even 30 minutes more.

What are you happy you spent money on?

Aaron: Amazing food and a great DJ.

M: Videographer and photographer. I didn't think I'd need the video side, but after seeing the final product, I’m so happy to have those memories.

What was your biggest surprise when planning your wedding?

M: How easy it is to go over-budget.

A: Cost adds up quickly for 200 people!

M: At the beginning it's all deposits, so it's easy to overspend because it doesn't feel like money has been spent yet.

What do you wish you’d known before you started planning?

M: To enjoy it more.

Any dress-shopping advice?

M: Don't settle, and be open-minded!

Do you have any general advice for couples currently planning their weddings?

A: Start looking and planning early. Do not take it lightly, and make payments if you can.

M: Enjoy it! Don't let the little things bother you, as they will be the things you don't remember later!

Do you have any general marriage advice, as a newlywed?

M: Be patient as you learn how to navigate being married. Love always wins.
