The 60,000-square-foot behemoth opens Thursday at Easton.
Easton Town Center will open RH Columbus, The Gallery, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, and this could be a game-changer for furniture shopping in Central Ohio. With its abundance of display space—interspersed with periods of respite at its new rooftop restaurant and a separate wine bar—it will be easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening here.
This three-level, 60,000-square-foot store is smaller than one that opened a few years ago in Lower Manhattan. But when I visited that East Coast store last January, New Yorkers had come to love the space like it was an indoor park. After a few hours onsite, I felt the same.
The rooftop restaurant is like an edgy Short North bar with old-school, department-store luncheon charm. The area is green, designed with trellised London plane trees, making privacy (and noise) more manageable. When warmer weather finally occurs, a spacious patio will be exposed with the restaurant’s retractable glass walls. When it comes to ambiance, this will likely become a hot spot in Central Ohio. Forbes called the New York space the “perfect place to dine.”
But RH, formerly known as Restoration Hardware, is about furniture, right? Our New York experience showed that RH wants visitors to rest and relax as they consider furnishings available. From the brand’s California-inspired relaxed modern styles to its swank outdoor ensembles, there’s plenty to consider. It’s comfortable to take your time moving among spaces, talking to designers onsite and even finding a quiet corner to chit-chat with your spouse, as you attempt to convince him or her that a full room—or home—redesign may be possible.
The new RH Columbus is at 4120 Worth Ave., just east of Nordstrom and north of Macy’s, in a newly constructed brick building.
