Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.
Carly and Joe Wallace are college sweethearts who became spouses in April 2019. Their “bold and graphic” wedding took place at Juniper, where they enjoyed steak and shrimp, topping it all off with Jeni’s ice cream.
Carly describes the proposal as something out of a movie. She and her sister went to their mom’s house, ostensibly to pick her up for dinner. There, waiting on the counter, was a journal in which she and Joe often wrote notes to one another. Inside was a letter from Joe, saying he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Carly. She went to the backyard to find him outside with lights, flowers, candles and one simple, but very important, question. After dating for nearly four years, the couple favored a short engagement of just five months.
The ceremony itself was personal to the couple. Their consultant, Meredith Diamond of Auburn + Ivory worked hard to keep décor minimal striking, Carly says. Acrylic elements and a muted palette helped achieve that goal, as did other fun touches. Their signature cocktails, for example, were called “Joe’ld Fashioneds” and “Cargaritas.”
