Dispatch Media Group is taking nominations for the fourth annual awards program through April 13.
Do you know an unsung hero?
Maybe it’s your neighbor, who volunteers to help senior citizens stay in their homes by shoveling their sidewalks and cleaning up their yards. Maybe it’s your child’s teacher, who rallied co-workers to collect supplies for kids who couldn’t afford them.

Dispatch Media Group wants to honor these heroes among us.
Everyday Heroes recognizes central Ohio residents who work to improve the community and lives of those who live in it, but don’t seek credit for the selfless work.
Nominations will be accepted through April 13 at Dispatch.com/EverydayHeroes. A panel of judges will select five finalists and 20 semifinalists.
They will be recognized in the Everyday Heroes magazine, which will be distributed in the Columbus Dispatch in September, and at an awards luncheon at COSI on Oct. 6.
One finalist will receive a $10,000 donation from the Columbus Foundation for a charity of his or her choice and $30,000 worth of in-kind advertising from the Dispatch Media Group for that cause.
This is the fourth year of the program. Last year’s winner was Zerqa Abid, a Hilliard resident who works with young Somali refugees in an impoverished Hilltop housing complex to fight crime and provide services.
Everyday Heroes is sponsored by AEP, The Columbus Foundation, CME Federal Credit Union, COSI and the United Way of Central Ohio.
"Since 2017, Columbus has gotten to meet 75 Everyday Heroes, learning about their acts of kindness that we hope will inspire others to emulate their meaningful actions," said Ray Paprocki, publisher and general manager of Dispatch Magazines. "We are excited to discover who the next 25 heroes will be and find out how they quietly yet profoundly make a difference in our neighborhoods."
