Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.

If there’s one thing we know about Saacha Mohammed and Spencer Matthews, it’s that the happy couple is anything but monocultural. The pair during a Czech intensive study in Prague almost a decade ago and “hit it off immediately.” Seven years later, the pair returned to Europe for a monthlong trip. While in Paris, strolling along the river Seine and chatting, “Spencer decided it was the perfect moment,” Saacha says.

Their wedding weekend featured a Indian-American fusion theme, which started with a Friday night sangeet ceremony at Juniper. There, “we had a sitar player and some women applying henna for the guests” in a nod to Saacha’s Indian heritage. “Additionally, we had some pies from [Spencer]’s favorite hometown bakery” to pay homage to his roots.

On the big day itself, a major highlight was “having our best friend officiate,” Saacha recalls. “His words were fantastic, and it made the ceremony feel more personal.” Personal connections made for the most memorable parts of the evening, she adds, as guests came from all over the world to celebrate—including all of Saacha’s cousins, who gathered together in one place for the first time in 20 years.
