The Columbus Photo Booth Co. took first place in the Photo Booth category.
Chad Zwayer prides himself on prompt communication.
“I return calls in 30 minutes and answer emails the same day,” says the owner and CEO of The Columbus Photo Booth Co., winner in the Photo Booth category. “When you’re planning a wedding and people don’t get back to you and you have to make decisions, that just delays things and causes more stress. My job is to reduce your stress and make this fun.”
Zwayer started his company in 2008 with just two photo booths. Today he fully customizes every photo booth he rents and has access to more than 100 props, plus green screens, karaoke systems, DJs, videographers, wedding photographers, table and chair rentals, fog generators, bubble blasters, confetti cannons and more.
“About three years ago, we were getting enough customers in the wedding business asking if we offered DJs and other things that I reached out to some vendors I knew and asked if they wanted to partner with me,” Zwayer says. “After we went down that road, a lot of corporations, nonprofits and school clients said they were looking to deal with just one vendor they trusted, and they wanted face painting, balloon artists and caricatures. Again, I knew people, so here we are.”
Zwayer’s foray into photo booths was sparked after a series of career adventures that began after the Bucyrus, Ohio, native graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in chemical engineering.
“I worked in the chemical industry down there and didn’t particularly care for it,” he says. “I found an opportunity where I did work in the Caribbean on the island of Antigua for a couple years, but island life isn’t all it’s made out to be.”
So he moved to Columbus and started his own company.
“This is actually my third business,” he says. “We feel pretty fortunate and pretty blessed that people want to join our team and help us expand.”
