Luxe Redux Bridal took first place in the Gowns, Consignment category.

Tired of keeping retired sample gowns in her basement and advertising trunk sales that weren’t worth the effort, La Jeune Mariee owner Lindsay Fork decided in 2011 to open a store to sell these one-of-a-kind designer dresses.

“The concept of buying off the rack and sustainability is really big,” says Fork, founder and creative director of Luxe Redux Bridal, winner in the consignment wedding gowns category.

It’s so big, in fact, that the shop’s Short North location now has sister stores in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.

“Luxe Redux is 100 percent in growth mode,” Fork says. “We have more than enough inventory to open up more stores, whether we grow organically or open franchises. I’d like to branch out of the Midwest. I’d like to see if Luxe Redux could work in a city farther west or down south.”

Fork’s inventory comes from La Jeune Mariee, the designer boutique she purchased in 2008 and co-winner in Best of Columbus Weddings’ new wedding gown category. Although the audiences for new and sample gowns are vastly different, the treatment they get from Fork is the same.

“Many off-the-rack stores are very secondhand-feeling, but I didn’t think people should have to sacrifice the setting just because they’re on a budget or want a discount designer dress,” she says. “The aura and feel of Luxe Redux is the same as any other place. We have chandeliers and great furniture. The girls who work with the brides really care and give them the same amount of time they’d get at La Jeune Mariee.”
