The Streetsboro Planning and Zoning Commission approved two fitness-related improvements to the city, which should be available to the public once the weather warms up.

The panel approved a new facade for Planet Fitness, which plans to located in the former Titans Gym at 1543 S.R. 303 in Streetsboro Plaza. Jeffrey White, one of the owners of the new business, said he plans to open the gym in March.

He showed commission members materials and drawings of the proposed storefront, which used the company’s trademark purple colors.

Commission member Marty Richmond noted that it was ironic that Planet Fitness bills itself as a "judgement free zone." He said the commission would approve the application as submitted.

"Far be it from us to make a judgement," he said.

In other business, the commission approved a pavilion at City Park off of S.R. 303. Parks and Recreation Director Greg Mytinger said this will be the second pavilion at the park, which will be near baseball fields 8 and 9. The pavilion, which will be a collaboration with Lowe’s in Streetsboro, is expected to be built this summer.
