Two accomplished Central Ohio journalists will assume editorial leadership positions at Dispatch Magazines.

In early January, Dave Ghose and Katy Smith will become editors of Columbus Monthly and Columbus CEO, respectively.

Ghose, current editor of Columbus CEO, spent more than a dozen years with Columbus Monthly, serving as a senior editor, associate editor and staff writer. He earned more than two dozen national and regional awards for his reporting on business, politics, the arts, criminal justice and health care, among other topics. Ghose worked as a staff writer for the Akron Beacon Journal before moving to Columbus in 2001.

"I'm excited to be coming back to Columbus Monthly," Dave says. "It's been my journalism home for most of my career, and I'm honored to lead one of the best city magazines in the country."

A graduate of Michigan State University, Dave lives in the University District with his wife, Carrie, a reporter for Columbus Business First, and their two children.

Smith began her career as a public affairs intern at the Columbus Dispatch and then moved to Suburban News Publications as a reporter and editor. She spent more than a decade at Business First, where she managed the weekly print edition and helped lead the newsroom through a transition to daily online reporting. Since February, Katy has worked at COTA as a marketing/communications writer before heading its creative marketing team. In addition, Smith has freelanced for Columbus CEO.

"I'm thrilled to join the talented team at Dispatch Magazines as the editor leading Columbus' foremost source of context-rich business journalism,” she says. “I look forward to sharing stories that connect Columbus CEO readers with the city’s decision-makers, our thriving entrepreneurial and nonprofit scenes and with one another.”

A Kent State University graduate, she grew up in Bexley and now lives in Clintonville with her husband, Nicholas, and brother, Joe Waters.

Sherry Beck Paprocki, who served as interim editor of Columbus Monthly for the past three months, will continue to serve as editor of Columbus Monthly Home & Garden, Columbus Monthly Health and the Home and Style section within Columbus Monthly.

“I want to thank Sherry for her leadership during this transition, and we’re looking forward to Katy and Dave working with our team,” says Ray Paprocki, publisher and general manager of Dispatch Magazines. “Although both publications have received national recognition, I expect Dave and Katy to build on that success to fulfill our mission of making a difference in our community through engaging and impactful journalism.”
