Eggs, Paws and Claws, Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20

Colored eggs will show up in surprising places Friday and Saturday during the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s Easter egg-stravaganza, Eggs, Paws and Claws. Gorillas and gila monsters will marvel at the appearance of bright ovoids in their habitats, while human children can search for eggs in more accessible areas. Xenia Lives! The Tornado of 1974, Saturday, April 20

Part of a “super outbreak” of twisters that hit  13 states in 1974, the Xenia tornado was the worst of the bunch, killing 33 people and causing about $100 million in damage as it left a roughly half-mile-wide path of destruction through the Greene County town. Learn about this historic storm at the Ohio History Center’s Echoes in Time Theatre, in which a performer will tell the story of the tornado from the point of view of a Xenia resident. ohiohistory.org

Front Line: Editorial Cartoonists and the First Amendment, Saturday, April 20

This new exhibition at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum examines free speech through the lens of editorial cartoons. Co-curated by Ann Telnaes, a Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist, and Lucy Shelton Caswell, Billy Ireland’s founding curator, the show dives into both historical and contemporary works that are meant to provoke thought, distill political issues and uphold the freedom of the press.
