The Cambridge "City" Band is celebrating their 179th birthday this May. They had their inception in May of 1841 with a jeweler, James Madison, as leader. The band has endured wars and hardships along with great memories to bring them to 2020. They have traveled to several states and performed for presidents and military balls, but to play in the Cambridge City Park is their home and favorite venue.

This year the director of the band, Dr. Berk Jones, will be serving in his 43rd year as conductor. The cast of performers rehearse on Monday evenings in the upstairs of the "City Building" in Cambridge on Steubenville Ave., at 7:30 p.m. The director and members enjoy and welcome new players so if you are interested in getting your instrument out and to play "one more time," then you are invited to come and be a part of the oldest, continually operating community band in Ohio. (Starting time for rehearsals are dependent on Governor’s Orders).

This year the band will be using "The Best Time of Your Life" as their theme, and this fun-loving group will be performing all types of music where, like last year, anything goes. So if you are 13 years old or older and want to join in, contact "Berk" at 740-439-5551 of any member of the band.
