There's something to please everyone at Mad Mex - and by everyone, I mean people who like sports, spicy food and drinking. The design scheme might best be described as Mexican Day of the Dead as realized by film director Robert Rodriguez. That distinct look suits this loose bar, which has the best margaritas and draft beer list on the OSU Campus.
Happy hour-wise, there's the 4 to 7 p.m. convocation, when beers are half-priced, as are wings (try Mex's incomparable Southwestern style). At the stroke of 10 p.m., early midnight snackers can get their grub on as most menu items are half-priced, and those unsweet, true-fruit-juiced margaritas are $6 per pint.
Try the goofily named El No Bono wings - they're crisply fried and sauced chicken breast curls seemingly designed for folks who don't love gnawing on bones. For something spicy but healthy, go with the veggie-friendly Raw Wrap - a whole wheat tortilla filled with garlicky pepita hummus, spicy spinach, sprouts and chickpeas (hint: get it with the casa salad and thick vegan chipotle dressing).
