What's the crowd like here?

It's a younger crowd that's just kind of laid-back and mellow - hence the name Mellow Mushroom. It's a good place to work. I've worked here since they opened [in the spring], but I also worked at the one in Hilton Head for about five years. I just love the concept.

How long did you live in Hilton Head?

I spent about 10 years in Hilton Head and I just moved back to Columbus about three years ago.

It's nice to have the Buckeye games and there's always something to do here, like concerts and stuff like that, but I love the beach. I could see myself moving back there someday.

So why did you move back to Columbus?

I guess I just got island fever. Ten years on the island and I was kind of bored and burned out. It's a different animal down there as far as the partying. I just got burned out.

What do you like to drink?

I like to drink beer, good quality beer. My favorite beer is probably Hopslam made by Bell's. It's a seasonal beer that only comes out November though March. It's real hoppy and has about 10 percent alcohol.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

Hang out with my family, my kids and my wife. I like to go to the beach as much as I can, even though I'm in Ohio. I'm an outdoors guy, so I just get outside as much as possible. Maybe play some golf.

Did you play a lot of golf in Hilton Head?

I played quite a bit, but I don't get out as much now. I pretty much picked it up down there. It started as a social thing - going out with the boys and drinking some beers. You get addicted to it after a while.

Where's your favorite place to play here?

I played at Grandview Country Club just the other day and it was beautiful. It was real hilly.

What would you be doing if you weren't bartending?

Well, I sell real estate now during the day, so I'd continue to do that.
