What does it take to be a good bartender?

I think personality is the number-one, most important factor. You've got to be an outgoing person, a patient person, good at understanding - that's the key. You're either going to be great at it or really bad at it. It's pretty cut and dry.

What's the crowd like at Old Bag of Nails?

This is the local Cheers. Literally every person sitting at the bar right now, I know by name. I know what they drink, what they eat, even about their families.

Everybody knows each other, too, which is really neat. You'll see one regular talking with another and before you know it, they're friends. It's a very friendly place. It's great.

What are people drinking here?

We are very beer-oriented. We keep a pretty good selection of draft beer. We have 15 handles and we change out a lot of them regularly to get different microbrews. Beer is definitely the top, but we do a lot of shots for the college kids.

Do you get many students from nearby Otterbein?

We do. Thursday nights, up on our third floor, we do a College Night where we stay open normal bar hours. We do drink specials, shot specials.

We get a lot of them for happy hour, too, from 2 to 7 Monday through Friday. Almost everything is half off - all our appetizers and almost all of our alcohol.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy going out and drinking on occasion. I love going to the movies. I'm a big movie buff.

In the winter months, I'll go up to Snow Trails near Mansfield. I'll go up and see my family and do a little skiing or snowboarding.

What's your favorite movie?

One of my favorites is The Godfather. For some reason, I can watch that anytime.

Right now, I'm really big into the 3-D movies. It's just a better experience. I'm also a big romantic comedy person. I'm a girl - we love our funny love stories.

Where do you go to grab a drink?

I usually stick to the area. Murphy McFlips is a great bar. They have a lot of drink specials. Average Joe's is a fun place. I've also been known to drink here with some of my coworkers.
