Exhibit: Trick Faces
What do the horror genre, live theater, rites of passage and wrestling have in common? Masks. Masks have served as a literal vessel for groups across time, culture and geography - not to mention they're an awesome vehicle for gaining insight into the creator's inner world. That's one of many ideas behind the most recent exhibition held at the Short North's Sovereign Collective. Curated by Amy and Meagan Allwood (of the Allwood Sisters) and on view through the end of February, Trick Faces will showcase papier-mache creations by more than 30 local and national artists, both professional and self-taught. A random selection of artists include Erin Mihoci, Ed Gaisie, Jeff Fernengel, Lara Yazvac and Aaron Troyer, as well as works from the entire Allwood clan - Amy, Meagan, Jovan and Milan.
When: Through Feb. 28
Where: Sovereign Collective, Short North
