When he's not touring with Shakira, world-renowned experimental percussionist Ravish Momin performs with the New York-based Trio Tarana. Tarana is an Indian style of music where unintelligible syllables combine with drum sounds to create a fluid chant. Trio Tarana expands this style with a mesmerizing combination of jazz mixed with classical Indian music and East-Asian, Middle-Eastern and North African rhythms. Meanwhile, Momin employs numerous percussion instruments to craft his own hypnotic beats. Local group Chakra opens with their brand of traditional Indian music.
