The Winner!

Johnnie's Tavern

3503 Trabue Rd., West Side

Beer type: Bud Light

Size/price: 12 ounces/$1.75

Temperature: 25.5 degrees (Friday, July 9, 5:15 p.m.)

Johnnie's Tavern has been the "Home of the Superburger" and ice-cold bottles since 1948, earning the West Side haunt quite a reputation. This place sports kitschy memorabilia that's three decades old - Schlitz globe, airplane made from beer cans, working phone booth - so stepping through the front door feels like going back to a better time.

Whether it's served in a bottle or a frosted mug, the beer is always frigid, and the food is always hot and heaping. The aforementioned Superburger is a three-quarter-pound behemoth, and the fried bologna and homemade roast beef sandwiches are nothing to laugh at either.

Beck Tavern

284 S. Beck St., German Village

Beer type: Bud Light

Size/price: 16 ounces/$1.50

Temperature: 26.8 degrees (Thursday, July 15, 7:23 p.m.)

The bartender at this comfy German Village dive bar said he regretted not serving "a frozen one" after noticing the Alive beer thermometer.

Butter's Bar

1137 N. Hamilton Rd., Gahanna

Beer type: Coors Light

Size/price: 12 ounces/$1.75

Temperature: 26.8 degrees (Tuesday, July 13, 7:30 p.m.)

This exceptionally friendly suburban watering hole has a nice selection of craft brews on tap, but its bottles really bring the frosty.

Crest Tavern

397 Crestview Rd., Clintonville

Beer type: Bud Light

Size/price: 12 ounces/$2.50

Temperature: 32 degrees (Tuesday, July 20, 9:45 p.m.)

Owner Craig Dupler has served roughly 2.86 million Bud Light bottles over the years, and he's tuned his freezer to that delicious line just above freezing.

Jimmy V's Grill & Pub

1 S. State St., Westerville

Beer type: Bud Light

Size/price: 12 ounces/$2.50

Temperature: 32.1 degrees (Tuesday, July 20, 8:46 p.m.)

Like its cousin in German Village, the Jimmy V's in Westerville offers great service, inviting atmosphere and frosty bottles.

Bar 23

584 N. High St., Short North

Beer type: Bud Light

Size/price: 12 ounces/$3

Temperature: 34.7 degrees (Thursday, July 15, 5:23 p.m.)

Although this reading wasn't embarrassing, we've had much colder bottles at this Short North spot. Still, the patio makes all drinks seem 30 percent cooler.
