Staff Pick: Mary Poppins at the Ohio Theatre

Long before "Supernanny" Jo Frost began scolding little kids on TV, Mary Poppins - the real supernanny - made little kids everywhere wish that she was their nanny. She could make rooms tidy themselves, store anything she wanted inside her magic bag and take merry-go-round horses on jaunts through the countryside.

The Broadway version of the classic Disney tale turns cheerful songs like "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" into lively dance numbers. Even better, Mary Poppins actually flies - well, it's more of a graceful float - right over the audience using her umbrella. There's only one beloved part of the movie that you won't find in the live show: dancing penguins. I guess the great choreographer of penguins, Savion Glover ("Happy Feet"), was busy.
