Preview: Dan Dailey at Hawk Galleries
The late '80s brought to interiors everywhere an angular design style with bold lines, colorful shapes, robotic tribalism and sharp yet squiggly caricatures. It was birthed in a culture that went bonkers over acoustic world music but believed colonizing outer space was just around the corner.
Those intriguing particulars are alive in the work of New Hampshire glass artist Dan Dailey, who will exhibit new pieces at Downtown's Hawk Galleries.
"Remember" turns a traditional bust into a vibrant figure that appears to glow from within, while "Suit of Light" is a playful stick-figure shape that looks cold to the touch. A handful of others prove that much of Dailey's genius comes from pairing opposite influences.
An opening reception will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 7.
