Fountains gushed, music blared and thousands gathered July 7, when Scioto Mile officially opened to the public. Since then, the city has fallen in love with the new Downtown green space.

The beautiful developments centered along Civic Center Drive between West Broad and West Main streets have created a nearly contiguous strip of serene green between North Bank Park and Scioto Audubon Metro Park. The east bank of the Scioto River now is a place to sit, swing, bike, eat, drink and stroll.

Scioto Mile is already attracting big events like the Columbus Arts Festival, which will return to the riverfront June 1-3.

Runners-up: Columbus Commons, Nationwide Children's Hospital
