TV review: Sign up for "Enlisted"

“Enlisted” is one of Fox’s best new comedies. Unfortunately, it was pushed to a mid-season premiere and then the wasteland of Friday night. So most will be out having fun times when it airs. Remember to set your DVRs.
“Enlisted” is a simple comedy about three brothers in the Army who’re stationed in the rear detachment, which oversees base operations, not combat. It’s best described as a modern-day “Stripes” — a group of screw-ups finds direction through service (and hijinks).
Starring Geoff Stults as the one brother who’s a combat hero, “Enlisted” revolves around him learning to become a leader, not just a soldier. The other two are more side characters, but offer good humor and solid arcs about outcasts finding a place in the world.
Mainly “Enlisted” is fun and amusing. Stults is a solid lead working as a straight to the antics of his brothers and other troops. But the early episodes have funny moments and plenty of room for growth.
