2020 Columbus Parent Summer Camp Guide

Camps centered around a variety of themes, from art to dance to music to sports, are offered by various Central Ohio organizations.

Editor’s note: Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many camp organizers are either moving their 2020 summer camps to online offerings or canceling their programs for this year. The state of Ohio declared May 14 that day camps would be allowed to operate under specific guidelines as of May 31, so some camps are still taking place in person, though with special precautions. This list was accurate at the time our Spring issue came out in early March, but many camp plans have changed since, so be sure to contact the organizer of any camp you have already enrolled in or are hoping to sign up for to confirm whether it is still taking place.

The arrival of summer is always cause for celebration. But it also can be a season of challenges for families with school-age children. Some parents who work count on summer camps to fill the gap while school’s out. But camp can be so much more than full-time child care. It’s a perfect time to let children try different activities and hone new skills. It’s great for staving off boredom. And for some families, summer camp is a beloved annual tradition.

Regardless of why you’re in the hunt, Central Ohio offers a broad variety of programs to suit any child’s interest. We’ve done much of the legwork for you with our annual Summer Camp Guide, which this year has 309 listings from across our region and beyond—with offerings at multiple price points to suit any budget.

Listings are divided into Day Camps and Residential Camps, then organized alphabetically in 12 categories: Art; Dance & Drama; Educational Enrichment; Equestrian; Multiple Category; Music; Nature/Outdoors; Religious; Special Needs; Sports; STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics); and Traditional.
