Editor’s note: Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many camp organizers are either moving their 2020 summer camps to online offerings or canceling their programs for this year. The state of Ohio declared May 14 that day camps would be allowed to operate under specific guidelines as of May 31, so some camps are still taking place in person, though with special precautions. This list, part of our 2020 Columbus Parent Summer Camp Guide, was accurate at the time our Spring issue came out in early March, but many camp plans have changed since, so be sure to contact the organizer of any camp you have already enrolled in or are hoping to sign up for to confirm whether it is still taking place.

Columbus Academy: Summer Experience

Ages served: 3-18

Dates/times: 6/2-7/31; half day (2-5 hours) and full day (6+ hours)

Description: Columbus Academy Summer Experience offers co-ed day camp programs in Academics, Arts & Sciences and Athletics for pre-K through 12th grade including before- and after-care options, as well as a Family Division that includes Caregiver & Baby and Grown Up & Child classes. There are nine weekly sessions to choose from.

Cost: Varies depending on programming. Camp starts at $270 per week for a rising grade K-9 full-day camper. Specialty camp fees are higher due to additional materials, field trips and/or program supports.

Columbus Recreation and Parks: Community Recreation

Ages served: 6-17

Dates/times: 6/8-7/31; full day (6+ hours)

Description: The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department offers a variety of day camps including arts, sports and general interest. Register at; click Registration and Reservations.

Cost: $50 to $145

Camp location: Various community centers and other facilities throughout the city

Columbus School for Girls: CSG Summer Programs

Ages served: 3-18

Dates/times: 6/8-7/31; full day (6+ hours)

Description: Whether they are artists, actors, scientists, writers, athletes, engineers or anything in between, all kids can participate in CSG Summer Programs. CSG Summer Programs are comprehensive co-educational experiences for children in pre-k through grade 12.

Cost: $160 to $500 per week

Hilliard Recreation and Parks: Rec Camp 2020

Ages served: 6-11

Dates/times: 6/22-6/26, 7/13-7/17, 7/27-7/31; full day (6+ hours)

Description: In this program, campers will swim at the Hilliard Family Aquatic Center, with field trips every Friday. A snack is provided daily. Price includes extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Themes, which vary by week, are Around the World, Wild West Camp and Mystery Camp.

Cost: $160 resident, $175 nonresident

The Learning Academy: The Learning Adventures

Ages served: 5-12

Dates/times: 5/25-8/7; full day (6+ hours)

Description: At the Learning Adventures camp, children will have the opportunity to discover problem-solving techniques, experience STEM activities, explore creativity and build lasting relationships with new friends. With a new theme each week, children will be engaged daily.

Cost: $100 to $220 per week

The Little Gym of Polaris: Super Quest & Skill Thrill Camps

Ages served: 3-12

Dates/times: 5/26-8/14; half day (2-5 hours)

Description: Day camp at The Little Gym of Polaris gives kids the summer camp experience without the bug bites, poison ivy and weeklong commitments. Combining physical activity, games and arts & crafts, we’ll help your child beat the summer heat by staying cool at The Little Gym. Flexible attendance options.

Cost: $30 to $35 per camp; sibling passes available

Meadow Park Children’s Center: School-Age Summer Camp

Ages served: 6-11

Description: We are a full-day camp serving children in kindergarten to fifth grade, with activities including field and pool trips and an experienced staff. We are a ministry of Meadow Park Church of God and have been serving the community for 50 years.

Cost: $105 to $235 per week

Oakstone Academy: Summer Camps

Description: Oakstone Academy offers a wide variety of summer camps and experiences for children from preschool through high school, serving both children on the autism spectrum and their typically developing peers.

Pickaway Place: Princesses & Superheroes

Ages served: 4-6

Description: Save humankind from evil-doers everywhere in this interactive, high-energy camp. The training combines cooperative games, team-building activities, literature, educational enrichment and craft projects.

Cost: $145

Premier at Sawmill Athletic Club: Summer Camp

Ages served: 5-12

Dates/times: 6/1-8/7; full day (6+ hours)

Description: This camp allows children to explore and learn new things. We keep kids active and entertained through gym games, crafts, daily swimming and special guests. We offer a variety of themes, so your young one will be sure to discover something new.

Cost: $170 to $195 per week

St. Francis DeSales High School: St. Francis DeSales High School Summer Camps

Ages served: 5-17

Description: From basketball, football, volleyball and cheer camps to drone racing and engineering, St. Francis DeSales High School’s academic and sports camps are a great way to meet new friends while improving your skills this summer.

The Wellington School: Wellington Summer Program

Ages served: 4-18

Description: The Wellington Summer Program offers programs in Academics, Athletics, Early Childhood, Performance & Fine Arts and STEM. The program provides students the opportunity to discover new talents, learn essential skills and build lasting friendships.

Cost: Varies based on program. Half-day programs start at $150 and full-day programs start at $280. Before- and after-care are available.

Westerville Parks and Recreation: Climbing Camp

Ages served: 5-8

Description: Learn the fundamentals of indoor rock-climbing and boost self-esteem and physical fitness while taking part in climbing games. All equipment is provided.

Description: Campers will meet new friends while taking part in activities and having new experiences on weekly themed field trips.
