Daily Distraction: Clear your mind with Flow State

It's been a rough morning. The president is promoting violence. Communities across the country (including Columbus) are protesting injustice after police in Minneapolis killed George Floyd. It's important to stay engaged with this stuff, but it can also take a toll, and you may find yourself craving some peace.

One way to get a daily dose of serenity is through your soundtrack, and a newsletter called Flow State comes in handy for that. Each day, Flow State sends an email with a listening recommendation, and it's usually something with chill, meditative, ambient vibes to ease you into the day. Generally, Flow State provides a brief bio on an artist and recommends a few of their albums, letting you know which ones have vocals, a run time for each album and where to stream/download the music.

There's also an option to become a paying subscriber, and in May, Flow State is donating all proceeds to the New York City coronavirus response.

Flow State isn't all obscure artists, either. Some of the names might be familiar to you. Today's recommendation, for example, is cult favorite electronic act Telefon Tel Aviv, and recently the newsletter included Childish Gambino (it's not all ambient and instrumental, obviously) and Four Tet.
