Staff Pick: Kathy Griffin, comedy's best redhead, comes to Ohio Theatre
Reading through Kathy Griffin’s resume is like reading through a TV Guide.
The best redhead in comedy (sorry, Carrot Top) has made appearances on/in all of the following: “ER,” “Seinfeld,” “Suddenly Susan,” “Average Joe,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “The View,” “X-Files” and “The Simpsons.”
Plus, she’s got her own shows to boot, including her Emmy award-winning reality show “My Life on the D-List” and her current late-night Bravo talk show “Kathy,” which the comedian has called her favorite job yet.
Griffin’s stupendous snark, though, is perhaps most properly displayed in her stand-up comedy routines. Her prolific stand-up work has garnered her an Emmy and a Grammy and led her to being the first female comic ever to debut No. 1 on the Billboard Top Comedy Albums chart. Her 2011 stand-up show on Broadway “Kathy Griffin Wants a Tony” sold more than $1 million worth of tickets in less than a week.
But all those accolades can (and we’re channeling Griffin here) suck it if she doesn’t make you laugh. Let her prove to you she can this Saturday. Tickets start at $29.
