Arts exhibition preview: Twins trace "Race, Class & Blue Collar" experiences in artwork
Jesse Tigges, Columbus Alive
Created by identical twin brothers Kelly and Kyle Phelps, respectively a sculpture professor at Xavier University and ceramics professor at University of Dayton, this exhibit focuses on the blue collar working-class, race relations and the struggles of the common man and woman.
The Phelps brothers grew up in a factory environment of Indiana, and found their friends, relatives and acquaintances to be heroes who've inspired their art.
The collection is a combination of hand-crafted works combined with found mechanical and industrial pieces.
