Arts preview: "Book of Mormon"

Jim Fischer

That Trey Parker and Matt Stone created a piece of religious satire probably isn't surprising. That the resultant piece of musical theatre became a huge hit on Broadway probably shouldn't have been surprising, either. That the two enlisted Robert Lopez, who co-wrote the songs for "Avenue Q," to help realize their vision (a musical comedy about two Mormon missionaries in Uganda) makes perfectly good sense. Oh, it's offensive. And funny. And clever. And eminently tuneful.
