Arts preview: Sean Christopher Gallery
A busy Saturday at Sean Christopher Gallery in the Short North includes two presentations: one related to the weekend's Pride Festival activities and the other part of the gallery's ongoing exhibition featuring the work of Columbus painter Chris Taylor.
Gallery owner John McCutcheon, his wife Cathy McCutcheon (a clinical counselor) and two young artists - Gillian Mead, an Upper Arlington native and art student at Temple University, and Josiah Jamison, a current Fort Hayes Arts & Academic High School student - will present "Supporting LGBTQ Students in the Art Classroom." This program, suitable for all audiences but targeted at parents, teachers and middle and high school students, will be an informal panel conversation discussing the art classroom as a safe space, as well as ways to make it an even safer space for all students.
Following the presentation, Chris Taylor, an Ohio State University at Newark art teacher, will discuss his work in general and as featured in the current gallery exhibition "Selections: Recent Paintings by Chris Taylor."
Both events are free and open to the public.
